Minister Chaudhary Encourages Identity of Chia Market and Supports Youth and Women Entrepreneurs

In a positive development, Agriculture and Livestock Development and Environment Minister Gita Chaudhary has announced plans to increase investment in chia, create a new market identity, and offer support to youth and women entrepreneurs. This announcement was made on the occasion of the 30th National Chia Day, celebrated on the 15th of Baisakh. With chia being a key crop for Nepal's export, spread across 31 districts with over 15,000 dependent farmers, the country has seen the establishment of approximately 171 processing centers, generating around 60,000 direct jobs. Despite facing various challenges, the relentless efforts of chia farmers, laborers, cooperatives, and industry/business stakeholders have led Nepali chia to successfully showcase its strong presence in the global market.
