Nepal-China Security Coordination Meeting Held in Lomanthang, Mustang

In a promising display of international cooperation, a Nepal-China border security coordination meeting took place in the beautiful setting of Lomanthang in Mustang on Friday. The meeting brought together officials from the Public Security Bureau of Jhongba County in Tibet, China, and local security officers and representatives from Mustang, Nepal, highlighting a shared commitment to enhancing border security. The meeting saw participation from eight Chinese delegates, including key officials from Jhongba County such as Deputy Chief of the Public Security Bureau Dunju Yujie and Security Bureau Director Loying, showcasing a constructive dialogue on mutual security concerns. Nepal's officials including District Officer Ajita Sharma, Deputy Superintendent of Police Chiring Kippa Lama, and Armed Police Deputy Superintendent Bhesraj Giri were also present, as well as local government representatives like Lopsang Chhiring, the Chairperson of Damodarkunda Rural Municipality, and Chyummi Bishta, the Vice Chairperson of Lomanthang Rural Municipality. Discussions during the Nepal-China joint security coordination meeting covered a range of bilateral issues related to border security and the prevention of potential crimes such as theft, smuggling, and unlawful activities in the region. Both sides expressed optimism about further improving relations between local governments and administrations, aiming for enhanced cooperation and coordination in the days ahead. The meeting, spearheaded by Lopsang Chhiring Bishta, the Chairperson of Damodarkunda Rural Municipality, paved the way for a more refined and strengthened relationship between the local governments and administrations of Nepal and China, particularly in the border region of Korala. Both countries' local security officers and representatives are committed to working together to address challenges and ensure a safer and more secure environment along the border. The practice of hosting collaborative security meetings between Nepali and Chinese security officials and local representatives is becoming a regular occurrence. In the previous year, a similar coordination meeting was successfully held in Jhongba County, Tibet, marking a positive step towards greater security cooperation between Nepal and China. As Chinese delegates journeyed from Korala to attend the meeting in Lomanthang, Mustang, the event underscored the spirit of friendship and cooperation between the two nations. Notably, officials like District Officer Sharma from Mustang made the trip to Lomanthang on Wednesday ahead of the security meeting, demonstrating a strong commitment to fostering positive relationships and ensuring regional security. The successful convening of the Nepal-China joint security coordination meeting in Lomanthang, Mustang, signifies a shared commitment to strengthening communication and collaboration for the mutual benefit of both countries.
