MP Ghimire Advocates for Priority to Gosainkunda in Upcoming Budget

In a meeting of the Development, Economic Affairs, and Good Governance Committee at the Federal Parliament Secretariat on Wednesday, MP Ghimire voiced his proposal for including a solid plan in the budget for the fiscal year 2083/84, in collaboration with various ministries. He commended the Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation for their proposal to make Nepal a 'Land of Gods,' emphasizing the importance of not overlooking Gosainkunda in this vision. Ghimire stressed the need to integrate Gosainkunda, considered one of Nepal's four major religious sites, into the budget and development programs. He also called for budget allocation for the development of a 'Religious Circuit' connecting sacred sites like Svargadwari, Khaptad, and Dang's Dharapani, as well as the construction of an airport in Deukhuri, Lumbini's capital. Furthermore, he suggested involving officials from the Ministry of Agriculture, Forests, and Environment in import substitution measures, aiming to halt the import of items like milk and meat that could be produced self-sufficiently in Nepal. Ghimire also pushed for providing grants to farmers to achieve self-reliance in fruit and vegetable cultivation within a year, along with focusing budgetary efforts on erosion control and removing legal barriers to the use of domestic timber. Regarding the Ministry of Youth, Labor, and Employment budget, Ghimire highlighted the importance of the government's policy to prevent foreign labor migration and emphasized the goal of creating 8 million jobs domestically, aiming to bring about a significant change in policy and practice. In discussions with the Ministry of Industry, Commerce, and Supplies, Ghimire recommended prioritizing the exploration of petroleum resources in Dailekh and the mining of phalams in Nawalparasi for the first time, with proper budget allocation for these initiatives to bring long-term improvements to the country's economy. The meeting was attended by representatives from the Ministries of Industry, Agriculture, Labor, and Tourism.
