Nepal Cricket Team Makes Strong Start Against UAE in Triangular Series Opener

The Nepal cricket team began the triangular series on a high note by defeating UAE by 37 runs in the first match on Saturday. Despite losing the toss and batting first, Nepal set a competitive total of 200 runs in 48.2 overs before bowling out UAE for 163 runs. Facing a comfortable victory situation at one point, UAE was outplayed by Nepal's resilient performance, ultimately leading to a successful turnaround in the game. With this win, Nepal has secured 14 points in the league table, surpassing UAE who has been halted at 10 points. The possibility of UAE equalizing points with Nepal was avoided as Nepal clinched a well-deserved victory. Playing at the Kirtipur Cricket Ground, UAE initially struggled to chase Nepal's target of 201 runs. However, captain Mohammad Vesim and Aarif Sheikh's partnership of 53 runs for the fifth wicket put Nepal in a commanding position. Vesim contributed 34 runs while Aarif scored 30 runs. Although Sompal Kami broke the partnership, his outstanding bowling performance dismissed both Vesim and Aarif in quick succession, turning the game in Nepal's favor. Sompal Kami's crucial breakthroughs by taking the wickets of Vesim and Aarif back-to-back proved to be a game-changer for Nepal.
