Successful Crackdown on Illegal Firearms Leads to Arrest of 40 Individuals Nationwide
The Nepali police have successfully apprehended 40 individuals involved in cases related to illegal firearms from various regions across the country in the past month. Among those arrested, three individuals were apprehended from Kathmandu Valley, one from Province 1, one from Province 2, one from Bagmati Province, 14 from Gandaki Province, nine from Lumbini Province, eight from Karnali Province, and three from Sudurpashchim Province, as confirmed by the Central Police Spokesperson and Deputy Inspector General of Police, Avinash Kafle. During the crackdown, a total of 29 illegal firearms were seized, including one Chinese pistol, one pistol, one revolver, two sharp-edged pistols, 21 rifles, one gun, and two airguns. Additionally, the police recovered one round of Chinese pistol ammunition, 263 rounds of SLR ammunition, and 70 rounds used in various firearms from the individuals apprehended. This successful operation not only emphasizes the commitment of the police towards building a crime-free society but also underscores their dedication to enforcing the law and ensuring public safety. The police spokesperson, Kafle, highlighted that the main objective of these raids was to crack down on illegal firearms trading and usage, ultimately contributing to the establishment of a law-abiding society.
