Unconventional Symbol in Indian Politics Sparks Discussion

In the realm of Indian politics, an unusual symbol has caught the eye. This symbol belongs to a non-official political group called the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), which stands out from the traditional symbols associated with the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) or the opposition Congress party. Described as eerie and repulsive, this online entity has become an unconventional yet contextually relevant political symbol among active Indian youth. Recent controversy arose after a remark by India's Chief Justice, where he compared unemployed youth to cockroaches and parasites during a conversation about journalism and activism. He later clarified that his comment was directed at individuals with fake degrees rather than the entire Indian youth population. However, his remark sparked an online uproar, leading to the emergence of a satirical political movement known as the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP). The Cockroach Janta Party is not an official political party but rather a satirical online group. Its membership criteria include being unemployed, mischievous, engaging constantly in online activities, and possessing the potential to "professionally criticize." Political communication strategist Abhijeet Deepak, currently studying at Boston University, is credited with founding this group, which he claims was born out of a mere jest.
