Supreme Court Views Petition Against Chief Justice Nomination as Unjustified

Following the hearing of a petition filed against the decision of the Constitutional Council nominating Dr. Sharma for Chief Justice, senior advocates Dinesh Tripathi and Dr. Prem Raj Silwal submitted a writ petition, which the Supreme Court administration had dismissed. The verdict of Justice Megh Raj Pokharel's bench on the petition challenging the nomination found the Court's administration of the decision as natural. The Court labeled the petition 'unjustified' based on the premise that Dr. Sharma had faced parliamentary hearings and was appointed as Chief Justice. The order issued by Justice Pokharel's bench stated, 'Hence, as the nature of the presented petition does not show any change and additional challenges to the recent modified process without seeing the natural process, the petition must not be dismissed from the Registrar. Proper legal processes must be followed.'
