Parliamentary Sub-Committee to Be Formed to Understand Human Rights Situation of Prisoners in Custody

A sub-committee is soon to be established to study the human rights situation of prisoners in custody who are currently under detention. The decision to form the sub-committee was made by the Law, Justice, and Human Rights Committee during a meeting held at Singha Durbar on Friday, as informed by the committee chairperson Samikshya Baskota. Additionally, the sub-committee will also be formed to study the situation at children's correctional facilities, according to Baskota. She stated, "The parliamentary sub-committee will be formed to understand the human rights situation of prisoners in custody. It is necessary to form a sub-committee for studying the children's correctional facilities. Honorable members who wish to join this sub-committee are requested to provide their names." Committee chairperson Baskota has urged the lawmakers who wish to serve on the parliamentary sub-committee to submit their names at the committee secretariat.
