Removal of Unauthorized Structures within Border of Jamunaha-Nepalgunj-Chisapani Road Ordered
The Division Office has directed the removal of houses, sheds, shops, huts, carts, billboards, and construction materials built through encroachment along the Karnali Highway. The road section from Jamunaha to Ganeshman Chowk, up to Karakanda Chowk to Kohalpur Bazaar, and from Kohalpur to Chisapani Bazaar in Baijanath Rural Municipality have been demarcated with a 25-25 meter boundary on both sides. The central alignment of the road from Ganeshman Chowk to Karakanda Chowk and the middle section between Kohalpur Bazaar and Kohalpur Bazaar (from 20+900 to 21+750) has been marked with a 21-21 meter boundary on both sides. According to the Public Roads Act 2031, no permanent or temporary structures are allowed to be constructed on national highways. The office has informed that due to the increase in road accidents resulting from road encroachments, efforts are being made to organize this road section in the first phase. The public notice states that within 30 days, if the concerned parties do not remove the structures themselves, the Department of Roads will use its bulldozers to remove the structures. It also warns that the cost incurred in such removal will be recovered from the relevant individuals or organizations as per the Public Roads Act 2031.
