In a remarkable development, Mingma Sherpa, who has conquered some of the world's highest peaks more than 35 times, has now ventured into parliamentary politics representing the Indigenous Janajati community from Taplejung in the Federal Parliament. With a string of impressive achievements, including scaling Mt. Everest and Manaslu nine times each and K2 in Pakistan six times, Sherpa has solidified his reputation as a legendary figure in the mountaineering world. Having accumulated vast experience in the tourism sector through his expeditions, Sherpa envisions bringing positive change as a Member of Parliament following the Janajati uprising. He expressed optimism in addressing policy issues and revitalizing the market to uplift Nepal's tourism industry. With successful climbs on major Himalayan peaks across five continents, including Aconcagua, Kilimanjaro, and Elbrus, Sherpa is not only a household name but also associated with international brands like Everest Bank, Mountain Dew, and Canon Cameras. Sherpa's proactive approach towards tackling tourism challenges indicates his commitment to being a catalyst for solutions. He now plans to contribute towards policy reforms for the betterment of the tourism sector directly from the Parliament.
