K.P. Sharma Oli: Discussion on 'Leadership Protection' Raised While Exploring 'Own' Alternatives

The NCP's Deputy General Secretary, Lekhraj Bhatt, mentioned that the meeting aimed to communicate the party's stance and enthusiasm to the party line and the general public. Regarding the ongoing debate on leadership change, he stated that the discussion concluded with the meeting and further deliberations would be based on the reports from the task force, which would then be reviewed by the central committee before making a decision. According to the General Secretary K.P. Sharma Oli's close aide, Mahesh Basnet, all proposals put forth by the President had been unanimously approved. The party's working committee, under the leadership of Ram Bahadur Thapa, plans to present a report on election review-related matters within a month. Basnet highlighted the importance of a meeting aimed at empowering the President to advance in a strong manner. He mentioned that during the recent political developments, there were initially two people in support of K.P. Oli, but this number grew to four within 3-4 days, which was conveyed to the media today. He also emphasized the need for organizational and some subcommittee restructuring suggestions by the task force if necessary. However, a leader aligned with the faction supporting leadership change informed BBC that the formation of a task force to prepare a team under Oli's leadership change had officially begun. Five months ago, during the previous major convention held in December, Oli, along with a large number of supporters, were elected within the party.
