Security Personnel's Boat Overturns in Narayani River

In a sudden turn of events on Friday evening, a rafting boat being operated by armed security personnel overturned in the deep Narayani River, leading to a call for rescue by individuals present. The incident occurred at the Narayani River near Gaindakot in Nawalparasi, where the security personnel had conducted a simulated exercise for disaster response and rescue training. The training, organized by the Armed Police Force Number 31 Gulmi Headquarters in Kawasoti Municipality, focused on community-based disaster response and rescue techniques. The security personnel demonstrated how to handle an overturned boat and rescue individuals in water as part of their training. They also showcased preparedness measures using household materials to ensure safety in potential disaster situations. The main trainer, Inspector Ramchandra Khadka of the Armed Police Force Number 31 Gulmi Headquarters, provided training on techniques for rescue, safety precautions, and the use of household items to navigate water bodies safely. The training, which began on Thursday under the coordination of Caretakers Nepal, involved the participation of 30 stakeholders from Kawasoti Municipality, including various community organizations such as community forest, schools, youth clubs, health institutions, and community police. The training included practical exercises on controlling fire outbreaks from LPG gas cylinders, conducting rescues in emergencies, and practicing river rescue operations. Following the training, participants returned to their communities to be better equipped for search and rescue operations during emergencies. The Armed Police Force has been engaging with community members to train them in disaster response and preparedness, as highlighted by Deputy Superintendent of Police Laxman Baral of the Armed Police Force Number 31 Gulmi Headquarters. Baral emphasized the importance of such training, especially in municipalities of Nawalpur prone to monsoon-related disasters, stating that every individual in the community should be equipped with the necessary skills for disaster response.
