Tax Services Initiated in Lomanthang Rural Municipality of Mustang
Tax services have been launched in Lomanthang Rural Municipality of Upper Mustang. The Internal Revenue Office in Baglung has granted the responsibility of registering personal and business industries to the rural municipality. This initiative aligns with the decision made by the Nepalese government last October. The Internal Revenue Office Baglung, in accordance with the plan to transfer funds and accounts to the local level, has authorized Lomanthang Rural Municipality for the first time to handle registration-related responsibilities. Rajan Gamal, the authorized officer from the Internal Revenue Office Baglung, provided this information. According to Gamal, individuals and businesses wishing to register their industries when faced with the situation of having to travel to Baglung or Jomsom can now carry out all registration activities directly from the rural municipality. The Internal Revenue Office has brought tax services to five local levels, including Upper Mustang's Lomanthang, within its operational scope. The Internal Revenue Office Baglung has informed that the office will expand tax services in a sequence that includes the districts of Parbat, Baglung, Myagdi, and Mustang. With the implementation of tax payer services in the rural municipality, it has become easier for local industrialists and business owners to register for taxes. The government has introduced a system to enter into the 'online' platform for various procedures such as tax payments and obtaining tax clearance certificates. Chyumi Bisht, the Deputy Chairperson of the rural municipality, highlighted the convenience provided to local business owners with the transfer of tax services from the Internal Revenue Office to Lomanthang Rural Municipality in Upper Mustang. Bisht mentioned that the elimination of the obligation to make long and costly trips to Jomsom and Baglung offices has resulted in time savings for businesses.
