Explosion on Railway in Balochistan Results in Deaths of at Least 24 People

In an incident that occurred on Sunday morning, a bomb explosion targeted a train in Chaman Fatok station in Quetta, Balochistan. Railway officials informed BBC Urdu that after the explosion, three train compartments and the engine were thrown off the tracks, with two compartments being overturned. The individuals affected by the explosion were soldiers returning home for Eid and their family members. The Balochistan government has attributed the attack to a suicide bombing on the railway and has indicated the involvement of the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), a separatist group. The BLA had claimed responsibility for the attack prior to this announcement. Images and videos from the site show damaged and overturned train compartments, as well as a nearby building with visible damage. "The explosion occurred on a stationary train with passengers on board," local resident Nasir Ahmad told the BBC. According to Ahmad, the incident took place early on Sunday when his family was asleep, but the explosion shattered the windows of their house.
