Brave Rescue Operation Successfully Retrieves Body of Young Man from 250-Foot Deep Seti River Crevice

Pokhara - In a display of exceptional dedication and skill, a team of disaster management personnel from the Armed Police Force successfully retrieved the body of a young man who had fallen into a 250-foot deep crevice in the Seti River in Pokhara Metropolitan City Ward No. 17. The incident, involving Mukesh Mahato, a 34-year-old resident of Sita Madhi, India who had recently moved to Pokhara-17, Ghari Patan, was reported late Saturday night when he fell into the crevice while near the river. Following the report, a disaster management team of 18 individuals, led by Inspector Sharan Bahadur Khadka under the command of the Armed Police Force's Nepal No. 24 Battalion Headquarters in Kalika Kaski, immediately responded to the scene that same night. Despite the late hours, the team conducted a thorough search but had to suspend their efforts until the next morning. On Sunday morning at 6:40 am, under the command of Inspector Vinod Poudel, a special disaster management team of 11 individuals initiated a search operation to locate Mahato. Through relentless efforts, the team successfully conducted a rope rescue operation from the approximately 250-foot deep crevice, eventually bringing Mahato's body out. Following the retrieval of the body, the Armed Police Force informed the Nepal Police and completed the necessary legal procedures before sending the body to the Pokhara Institute of Health Sciences for post-mortem examination. This successful rescue operation stands as a testament to the dedication and expertise of the rescue team in ensuring the safety and well-being of the community.
